Fancy meeting you here!

I have a confession… I have been thinking about doing this for years. As in years and years and years. I have started and stopped several times -always with an excuse.

“the baby doesn’t like to sleep and I’m just soooooo tired”
“dinner doesn’t just make itself”
“what would my boss think”
“I’m so peopled out, lets just mindlessly scroll Insta”
“my computer is just so far away” (spoiler alert it’s across the room)

What makes this time different? I met a woman this week – another female sales leader who recently became a mom. She’s struggling with many of the same things that I have and feels alone and is struggling finding her place in it all. Figuring out this whole keeping a tiny human alive thing, having boobs in a world where the org chart is mostly men in Patagonia vests, the realization that dinner is something that has to be made….every…single..day. You look around at the playground or the Meet the Teacher night and find yourself surrounded by moms who spent their morning ground almonds to make their own hemp almond milk while you forgot to brush your hair and are trying to ignore the Slack messages that are causing your phone to vibrate off the table. Slight exaggeration? Probably but perception is reality right?

So anyway back to the point…Sure there aren’t a lot of women in tech sales, being a middle aged mom to elementary aged kids isn’t special, poorly balancing work and life is nothing new, dinner doesn’t just cook itself or clean up afterwards, sales quotas don’t get crushed by just hoping the deals come in, performance conversations suck for everyone, and the doorbell recognizes the Amazon delivery guy as a familiar face – my experiences, challenges, successes and lessons learned really are universal – we just do a really bad job of keeping it real.

That’s the goal here – to be real. Talk about life – work, home, travel, fun. The celebrations, the struggles and everything in the middle.

What is this not? I’m not here to have opinions on political issues. I have opinions but opinions are like a$$holes – everyone has them and mine isn’t special. I’m not here to judge or debate clean living vs whatever you call the other side- you do you boo. I’m not here to give you the recipe to getting that promotion – climbing the corporate ladder is a wild thing. I’m not here to show you the clean and perfect life or judge anyone else.

What is this then? This is a chronicle. An accounting of life as a mom – kid and canine, a wife, a daughter, a friend, a manager, an employee, a coworker, a non-profit board member, a shopaholic, a traveler, a sit on the porch with a glass of wine kinda gal.

Welcome to the @KidLifeChronices!

Allow me to intro myself and family!
